Calcium hydroxide powder for the production of Kalkwasser (lime water) for saltwater aquariums

The addition of Kalkwasser has several positive effects on the water in a reef aquarium. The calcium level increases and, if the kH is high enough, the phosphate concentration is reduced by precipitation. The growth of hair algae is inhibited and the development of calcareous algaes is encouraged. Kalkwasserpowder can be used in all Kalkwasser reactors or Kalkwasser stirrers but be sure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions. The best method is to replace the evaporated water in the aquarium using Kalkwasser solution pumped by an Aqua Medic Niveaumat (peristaltic pump with float switch) from a reservoir.
